The new...
The new…

A weekend full of meetings and reunions, lectures, and guided tours through the city and the university – that’s what awaits the participants of this year’s Alumni Meeting. On Friday, the extensive program organized by the faculties will give former students the opportunity to revisit many familiar places at their alma mater. The Faculty of Chemistry, Pharmacy, and Earth Sciences, the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, and the Faculty of Engineering will be holding lectures, graduation ceremonies, and faculty festivals.

Guided tours of the University Archaeological Collection, the Uniseum, and the campus of the Faculty of Engineering will provide insight into cutting-edge research and the university’s history. The city tour “Freiburg – Stadt und Wald” (“Freiburg – City and Forest”) and a guided tour through the offices of the Archdiocese of Freiburg will give former students the chance to experience Freiburg from new and unusual perspectives.

University professors will provide introductions to their research in language appropriate for a general audience on this day, so the alumni also can find out what’s going on at other faculties. At the end of the day on Friday, participants can relax with former classmates at the Freiburg Wine Festival on Münsterplatz or take in a Concert by the Academic Orchestra at the Freiburg Concert House.

... reflects the old.
… reflects the old.

On Saturday morning, Rector Professor Hans-Jochen Schiewer and Mayor of the City of Freiburg Dr. Dieter Salomon are looking forward to greeting the alumni at a reception in the new University Library. Afterwards, participants can take a guided tour of the new University Library. The Freiburg Alumni Club has organized a meeting in the idyllic courtyard of the Old University for the guests.

On Saturday evening, everyone is invited to a concert by the University Big Band at the Lorettobad swimming pool, which is celebrating its 175 anniversary this year.

On Sunday, participants can start their day with a relaxing morning concert by the big band of the Freiburg Jazz and Rock School at the Feierling beer garden. The Alumni Meeting will conclude in the afternoon with a tour of the Old Cemetary in Herdern.

The Freiburg Alumni Team is looking forward to welcoming guests from around the world and is available to answer any questions about the meeting: alumni@uni-freiburg.de. The entire program of the Alumni Meeting may be viewed at www.alumni-meeting.uni-freiburg.de/programme.
